Frequently Asked Questions

Permanent make up is cosmetic tattooing. The specialized techniques used for permanent cosmetics are often referred to as micro pigmentation, micro pigment implantation or derma graphics. Regardless of the name, the process remains the same: colour is permanently inserted into the upper dermal layer of the skin using fine needles dipped into hypo- allergenic pigment (inorganic pigment)

The most common permanent make-up procedures include eyeliner, eyebrow shading, lip liner and full lip colouring.

EYELINER: Defines and accentuates eyes. Makes lashes appear thicker and denser.

EYEBROW SHADING: Eyebrows that are naturally too light, too thin, too sparse or non-existent can be beautifully enhanced and improved with micro pigmentation.

LIP LINER: Permanent lip liner not only adds fullness to lips and corrects unevenness; it can also minimize the appearance of wrinkles and helps prevent lipstick from bleeding.

LIP COLORING: with permanent lip colouring, the lips can take on soft, natural hues or intense, dramatic colour-permanently.

There will always be an initial consultation where colour preferences, shape and suggestions are discussed. Some basic health information is also gathered to ensure the procedure is safe for the client. Only after the consultation and client approval will the pigment be applied. For first procedures a follow up visit is normally required for improving the density of the colour and/or to make minor adjustments to the shape. Follow up visits are done not sooner than 4 weeks after the initial procedure (21-28 days cell regeneration process).
High quality topical anaesthetics are used in every procedure to help ease discomfort. Minor discomfort can sometimes be experienced depending on the client’s skin and pain threshold but procedures are generally pain free. In most cases only the first pass will be felt, after that more anaesthetic is applied to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.

Approximately 1 – 2 hours depending on how much time is spent on consultation. Twenty minutes of this time will be utilised for the anaesthetic to take effect.

Yes, because the pigment is implanted in the outer layer of your skin, you will require a touch up following a first procedure in order to achieve perfection and longevity. From there a colour boost can be done every 1-3 years depending on how well your skin retains the pigment.
You will still be able to go to work or be seen in public, the treated area might however be red/inflamed or slightly swollen directly after a procedure. The colour will appear darker or bolder for the first 5-7 days, but will lighten significantly during the healing phase. There are aftercare instructions that will need to be followed to facilitate healing and colour retention.
Microblading is technique through which fine strokes are created to mimic hair. It makes a brow look slightly fuller, yet natural. Shaded/powder brows are more saturated than micro bladed brows and can be used to enhance the shade, shape and fullness of a brow. Though both techniques are considered permanent, shaded brows lasts much longer than microblading. Not all skin types are ideal for microblading whereas shading can be performed on most skin types.
No, this is a myth and no such thing will be done. Only hairs that are out of place or outside the agreed upon shape are removed/trimmed to neaten the area. The whole idea is to leave your eyebrows as natural as possible.
Eyeliners, lips and shaded brows are considered permanent and can last up to 5-10years with minor colour boosts every 1-1.5 years. Microblading can however fade away completely over time depending on skin type and overall health.
During the healing phase it is recommended that contact with water and excessive sweating is minimised (7-10 days). Detailed aftercare information is provided and it is imperative that this followed to ensure the best result possible. If you are planning a vacation to the beach, it is recommended that the procedure be done at least 4 weeks prior.

Eyebrows take between 7-10 days to heal and scab, sometimes depending on overall health 14 days. Eyeliner takes between 3-5 days and lips between 4- 6 days. All cosmetic procedures take between 30-60 days to reach true colour even after scabbing has taken place.

I will never proceed without obtaining approval from a client on the shape and/or colour chosen. Remember that for the first 5- 7 days the treated area will appear darker and bolder than what the healed result will be. As soon as it is healed it will appear much lighter and far more natural. If the results are still not desired removal by laser or saline can be considered.
